Pakistani Motorcycles Industry Trend and Perspectives

In the last two years, the Pakistani economy and industry shrank as floods, uncertainty, and disrupted external support caused public investment to plunge and private investment and industry to contract. Inflation reached a 5-decade high as supply disruption and currency depreciation propelled increases in food and energy prices.

Demand for new 2 and 3 wheelers collapsed starting from July 2022 after that for the entire previous decade, the Pakistani motorcycles market had been one of the fastest growing worldwide, reaching a record (2021) of 1.8 million annual sales.

However, when flood disaster happened in July 2022 the market plummet losing near the half in the following 18 months, ending 2023 with only 994.530 registrations.

The start of 2024 was again disappointing, with the first half ended with 498.368 sales (-6.2%). However, the market jumped ahead both in July and August (+12.6% and 22.9% respectively) and looks to be in a recovery pathway.

Looking at the performance among the top manufacturers, the leader Honda reports sales down by 0.9%, ahead of United Auto (-2.2%), Road Prince (-7.1%) and Suzuki (+32%).
