BMW Motorrad ended the first half 2019 with the best ever performance and over 100.000 global sales, up a robust 11.7%, doing better than any other Top Premium brands. The success of recently opened Indian subsidiary and the strong demand in Europe are the key factors of this success.
The first half 2019 was the best ever selling semester in the entire live of BMW Motorrad division with a record of 100.173 sales, up a huge 11.7%.
The success is driven both by the West European and East Europe (Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and others) respectively up 14.6% and 20.2%. Sales in these region represented 67% of global BMW figures.
While the trend is positive in North and South America, with sales up respectively 7.6% and 7.9%, troubles are in Asia, where the Asian regions (China, Japan, Korea & Taiwan) is down 2.2%, the ASEAN down 28.2% (with Thailand really collapsing!).
The fastest growing region is the Indian (India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) thanks to the boom of sales in India, where production started 12 months ago.
The Top Premium Brands Racing
BMW sales are growing uninterruptedly since near a decade and in the 2018 hit the new all time record sales of 158.176 units, up a little 1.5% from the previous years, while a robust +44% growth was reported since the 2012.
BMW is the third best selling premium brand in the World, following the leader Harley-Davidson and the fast growing KTM, very close to gain the leadership.
In the first half 2019 BMW was the fastest growing premium brand, doing better than KTM – which is fast growing as well – while Harley-Davidson struggles, losing volume and probably the global leadership among premium motorcycles brands.
